External Credential Service for the Electronic Submittals - Criminal History

NRC's Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) Criminal History system is used by personnel security staff at nuclear power plants to communicate electronically with the NRC staff for the purpose of doing security background checks on contractors and employees.

In order to access to the EIE Criminal history system, a user must obtain a digital certificates which is an electronic identification which authenticates a user when processing transactions on the Web. The use of digital certificates allows the Criminal History system to uniquely identify each user.
